Today is all about context, immersion and relevance. We will start where all things should, at the beginning. Meet the dancing curator of Phansi Museum who will introduce you to a vast collection of indigenous art and crafts.
Time to head to Isithumba — a living Zulu cultural village. Explore the village on foot as you begin to understand a different way of life and if the ancestors are kind you may even meet the chief or a spiritual healer. Enjoy a traditional lunch at the village. The Markets of Warwick are our final stop. This curious space represents the beating heart of indigenous culture. Meet the Lime and Imphepho Gogos (female elders) and watch them mould their goods before you witness the culture shock that is Muthi Bridge or as we like to call it — “Sangoma Central”. Unlock this mysterious place and get an authentic feel for Zulu culture.

Superb day from start to finish!!! Thabo our driver/guide for the overall day was excellent and great to discuss with as we drove between activities. The Phansi museum was superb, and our lovely lady guide was a fount of information as well as lovely to talk with! The village visit was a real highlight and it was a pleasure and privilege to meet Imimi (many, many apologies for probably mangling his name) and to have a great, wide-ranging conversation with him over the excellent lunch. Finally, the markets of Warwick experience was a huge cultural immersion and thank you so much to Dhumi (again apologies for my dreadful name catching ability) for her insightful guidance through what for us was such a different place to our normal lives! A brilliant day overall giving a genuine insight into 'real' (not staged) Zulu culture both traditional and modern, with not a single other tourist in sight all day! Thank you so much. - Elisabeth
